The Executive Office today launched public appointment competitions for Chair, Expert Members, and Victim-Survivor Representatives to the Independent Panel being established to investigate Mother and Baby Institutions, Magdalene Laundries, Workhouses and relevant institutions here.
The first of these seeks to appoint six expert members (one of whom will be selected as Chair).
Applications are sought from individuals with expertise in the following disciplines: Sociology of Discrimination and Gender-based Violence; International Human Rights Law and Domestic Law; Social and Oral History; Trauma-informed Practice; Genealogy; Archiving.
The second competition is to appoint Victim-Survivor representatives to the Independent Panel.
The role of Victims-Survivors representatives on the Independent Panel is crucial to the future work of the Panel and truth recovery.
Applicants for these positions should have direct experience of the types of institution to be investigated and/or the adoption system.
