Following her comments to the Committee for the Executive Office earlier in the week, the Commissioner for Survivors of Institutional Childhood Abuse has again called for a decision to be made in relation to the promised Apology to victims and survivors of non-recent historical institutional childhood abuse.
“It is a month to the day of the promised apology – the 11th March. Victims and survivors are owed this apology; an apology that is five years delayed and one victims and survivors have been waiting a lifetime to hear.
“I called last week for everyone with influence to go beyond politics and understand the symbolic importance and personal value of this apology to victims and survivors. In the end this has to be a political decision and I am urging politicians to come together to make that decision for the sake of victims and survivors. Victims and survivors need clarity, they need reassurance. They need this apology.”
